GBD In Vivo Rapid Bla - Mouse™

The GBD In Vivo Rapid Bla - Mouse™ kit enables researchers to significantly reduce time and costs associated with identifying and quantifying colony-forming units (CFU) of nonrecombinant strains of tuberculosis directly in live mice. The ability to detect tubercle bacilli in vivo significantly impacts the pace of virulence studies, evaluation of therapeutics and development of vaccines.

Although recombinant reporter strains of mycobacteria have been developed for detection of mycobacterium using fluorescence, luminescence and even single photon emission computed tomography, these methods require specific laboratory strains and do not allow detection of all strains that cause pulmonary tuberculosis by optical imaging directly in live animals. Recombinant systems have facilitated progress, but expression of a foreign gene can impact bacterial fitness in unexpected way, particularly when expressed from plasmids.

GBD’s biophotonic technology is expected to support research and development efforts associated with other strains of beta-lactamse producing bacteria including P. aeruginosa, L. pneumophila, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and others. Guinea pig and rabbit models are also straightforward to develop. Equipment vendor selection support for 3-D imaging and quantification is available.

Our PhD support team is made up of the world’s leaders in developing protocols and assays for 3D quantitative imaging of beta-lactamase producing bacteria. Let GBD’s innovative solutions support you in your research and development project.
